It's About Balance

Scales[1]“We think that the point is to pass the test or overcome the problem, but the truth is that things don’t really get solved. They come together and they fall apart. Then they come together again and fall apart again. It’s just like that. The healing comes from letting there be room for all of this to happen: room for grief, for relief, for misery, for joy.”
Pema Chodron (When Things Fall Apart)

Just yesterday I was sharing with my mom I hate it when you work your butt off to get something and when you do get it you are so exhausted you can’t enjoy it. As a result last year I decided no more of that for me; I have taken that approach in most of the things I do now remember its a process I can't do it all at once. Last semester I got a B and it was ok... to show you how much I have grown in the past year this semester I picked which course I was not going to work my butt off to get an A in, at the cost of enjoying time with family and friends. Please do not take this as an excuse to accept mediocrity because that is not what it is about it’s about balance. Well the course I decided I was not going to overwork myself in guess what, I got my grade this week and I got an "A"...you never know what life holds eh. Peace…

Knowing about balance and speaking to it is easy, unfortunately knowing is not doing and saying don't mean making it happen for it is the application and follow through creating, establishing and maintaining balance is where the challenges lie.

    Peace.

  2. Getting an A and enjoying life are not mutually exclusive. We should balance it all doing what is more important and crucial at any point of time.
