This is really cool.

Creating My Own Path

"Have patience with all things, but chiefly have patience with yourself. Do not lose courage in considering your own imperfections but instantly set about remedying them -- every day begin the task anew." Saint Francis de Sales

I do my New Year's resolutions during my birth month September, which is in a couple days so I have been thinking a lot about my life and the choices I have made this past year and the effect they had on my life plan and got real discouraged because I had fallen short. Then it dawned on me, I may not have ran the 3 marathons but I am training now after a 6 month break; I may not be managing my own business fulltime but I have launched the business; I may not be working on my doctorate but I graduated with my MBA. It is so difficult for me to celebrate achievements when its not the thing that I had hope for. I wonder why is that? Personally I think it is because I have placed soo much value on the outcome rather than the journey. I need to start enjoying the journey because most of my time and energy is spent on the journey not the end product. That being said if I focused on what I did during the 6 month break from running; I travelled extensively, I had mojitos at the bar on some Saturdays, and I developed stronger bonds with some friends. Since I was not out running my time and energy was spent on other things that led to growth and development for me. Isn't that what life is about? It is okay to not follow the traditional path and create my own path if life allows.

Well this was suppose to be an analysis of the quote when I started but it went somewhere else...that happens I was creating my own path. :)

Creating your own path can definitely lead to a life that rocks....

Be Gentle

"Be gentle first with yourself if you wish to be gentle with others." -Lama Yeshe

Oh how I need to do this more often.

Be Kind

It just dawned on me, drink some water. I normally place 8 half liter bottles of water on my desk when I walk in at 6:30am as a reminder to stay hydrated as well as track my water intake. This week I have been facilitating more than the usual amount of training because the year is coming to an end and requirements need to be met so I have not been diligent with drinking my water until 10 minutes ago. I was reading through some material and my head was pounding so much so that I could not focus so I grabbed a bottle of water and started drinking only putting it down when the bottle was empty. Holding the bottle in my hand it hit me, the headache is a symptom of my dehydration as well as my failure to eat. I was out of the office for 30 days so I have a lot of catching up to do and I have been doing exactly what so many of us do, try to get 30 days of work completed in 1 week. So far, I have worked late every day this week, I had my first meal prior to 6pm 1 day this week and drank no more than 2 bottles of water a day; now that is crazy.

We need to take care of ourselves better, be kind to each other but more importantly be kind towards oursleves we are so deserving. We are worth it; being compassionate towards ourselves is not selfish it is smart, strategic, necessary, as a matter of fact, downright brilliant. Let us take the time today and everyday to be more understanding and compassionate with ourselves, everyone benefits from that approach and we are able to see how life definitely rocks.

Be Kind to Self...

Get coffee

I think I am going to get coffee every morning not because it is great coffee but the attendant makes me smile every time. The morning started rocky, I did not work out, spent too much time getting ready was 5 minutes behind schedule and I just didn't feel like it. The usual be thankful you have a job was not doing it this morning so I decided to get a caramel machiatto extra caramel (Lord knows I don't need it because I just put on some extra weight and I'm having a hell of a time dropping it; for whatever reason that weight seems to be so attracted to my midsection it is ridiculous....leave me I don't like you is what I say to it daily but it would not go). When the attendant handed me the coffee I was laughing so much although I had to wait an extra 5 minutes for my coffee since they were low on caramel. "My colleague likes extra caramel too and she used the entire can I brought out this morning so I had to go all the way in the back to get more caramel...the people I work it" he said as they both started laughing. That's when I was reminded of the fact, we need to choose to be happy inspite of the circumstances. The coffee shop opens at 5am and these folks were so full of energy and bubbly it was contagious I left laughing and thinking, thank God I got coffee. Get some coffee...
